As we start to get into all of the festivities (the best we can), it’s not uncommon to abort some (or all) of the wellbeing goals we set forth for ourselves. Remember to insert joy this season... and not just during the holiday, but all year through!
Just as we need not deprive ourselves of the foods and beverages that are a part of celebrating this glorious life, any time of the year – we also don’t take vacations from our health. Wellbeing is a 24/7 gig and at the same time, it need not be a sacrifice. We are fortunate to have such an abundance of healthy options that still taste great. And when it comes to the 'not so healthy but incredibly delish treats' – savour them, mindfully and unapologetically.
Pro Tip: Science has proven time and time again that we humans consume more when there is an increased variety to choose from. Use this to your advantage! Make multiple healthier dishes (salads, cooked vegetables, whole grains, and even micro-nutrient induced dessert) - and have fewer options of the treats that are low in vitamins/minerals yet high in calories. You may just end up eating healthier without even knowing it... or better yet, with more joy!
