Reiki is a gentle, energy-based healing practice designed to promote deep relaxation, restore balance, and support overall wellbeing
At Aligned Health, we know that lasting wellness involves more than addressing physical symptoms - it includes nurturing the deeper connection between mind, body, and energy. Robin McKenzie Haines, Reiki Master and Teacher, brings over 20 years of experience in the practice of Reiki, offering compassionate and grounded sessions designed to help clients slow down, release stress, and reconnect with their natural state of balance.

Through calm, supportive sessions, Robin creates a space where the body’s innate healing wisdom can emerge. Her approach honours the natural rhythm of energy within each individual, helping clients experience greater clarity, emotional balance, and relaxation. Whether you are seeking relief from stress, support during times of change, or simply a moment to reset and recharge, Reiki offers a gentle path toward renewed vitality and inner harmony.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice that supports the body’s natural ability to restore balance and relaxation. The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words: Rei, meaning universal, and Ki, meaning life-force energy - the vital energy that flows through all living things.

During a Reiki session, the practitioner works with this subtle energy through light touch or hands placed just above the body. The goal is not to force change but to encourage a natural flow of energy that promotes calm, relaxation, and balance.

Many people experience Reiki as deeply restorative. Sessions often help quiet the nervous system, release accumulated stress, and create a sense of grounding and clarity. While Reiki is not a medical treatment, many individuals find it to be a supportive complement to clinical care and other wellness practices.

Receiving Reiki within a multidisciplinary clinic can support a more complete approach to wellness. At Aligned Health, Reiki is offered alongside services such as counselling, massage therapy, and other wellness practices. This allows clients to incorporate energy-based healing into a broader approach to health and wellbeing when appropriate. Robin brings more than two decades of dedicated Reiki practice to each session. Her approach is calm, attentive, and respectful of the unique experience each client brings.
What to Expect in a Reiki Session
Reiki sessions are designed to be calming, restorative, and accessible for individuals at any stage of their wellness journey.
During the Session
You remain fully clothed and lie comfortably on a treatment table in a quiet and relaxing environment. Robin places her hands lightly on or just above different areas of the body, allowing Reiki energy to flow naturally. Many clients experience sensations such as warmth, gentle tingling, or a deep sense of relaxation. Others simply feel calm and peaceful throughout the session.
After the Session
Following the session there is time to rest and briefly discuss your experience. Some clients may feel immediate relaxation, while others may notice gradual changes in their sense of calm and wellbeing over the following days or after subsequent sessions.
Understanding Reiki and Ki Through the Meridian System

The Role of Ki in the Body
Ki (also known as Chi or Prana in other traditions) is the subtle energy that sustains life. It moves through the body in specific pathways known as meridians, which form part of the human energy system. Reiki practitioners channel universal life energy to help restore the natural flow of Ki, supporting the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

The Meridian System
Meridians are the energetic channels that carry Ki throughout the body. They are often compared to the veins and arteries that circulate blood, but instead of transporting physical substances, meridians carry energy. These channels connect every part of the body, ensuring that Ki reaches all organs, tissues, and cells.

There are twelve primary meridians, each associated with a major organ system, such as the heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys. These meridians run longitudinally through the body, forming an interconnected network that links the physical, emotional, and energetic aspects of health.
In addition to the main meridians, there are smaller meridians, known as Nadis, which weave throughout the body. Nadis connect the major meridians and energy centers (chakras), allowing Ki to circulate freely and maintain energetic harmony.

Reiki and the Flow of Ki
During a Reiki session, the practitioner acts as a conduit for universal life energy, directing it through the hands to areas of the body where Ki may be blocked or depleted. This gentle flow of energy helps to clear stagnation within the meridians and Nadis, restoring balance and vitality.
When Ki flows smoothly through the meridian system, the body’s natural healing processes are supported, emotional tension is released, and a deep sense of peace and alignment can be experienced.

The Connection Between Energy and Well-Being
Understanding the meridian system provides insight into how energy influences physical and emotional health. Just as proper circulation of blood is essential for physical vitality, the free flow of Ki is vital for energetic and emotional balance. Reiki works in harmony with this system, helping to maintain the natural rhythm of life force energy within the body.
By nurturing the flow of Ki through the meridians, Reiki supports holistic wellness—encouraging harmony between body, mind, and spirit.

Robin's Approach to Healing

For Robin, Reiki is more than a technique. It is a lifelong practice rooted in compassion, presence, and respect for the unique energy each person carries.

Over more than 20 years of practice, she has come to see healing not as something that must be forced or fixed, but as a process of remembering balance and wholeness.

Each session is approached with patience and care, creating a quiet space where clients can slow down, breathe deeply, and allow the body’s natural rhythms to guide the healing process.
Robin believes that when we create space for stillness and awareness, the body and mind often find their own way back to balance.
